Since the beginning of time, the moon has inspired artists from around the world. And it has been incredibly influential: god, planet, basis for the calendar, guide for measuring time and a tool for night-time navigation… The moon has fascinated all civilizations.
This year it will be Winter Wonders’ very special guest. Our 23-ft. moon will take its place in the courtyard of the most prestigious building in Brussels: City Hall.
The amazing installation features detailed 120 dpi NASA images of the moon’s surface with an approximate scale of 1:500.000. Each centimetre of the sculpture represents three miles of the moon’s surface.
This will be a unique opportunity to see the moon closeup and in three dimensions. Suspended in the centre of the historic courtyard, it will dazzle visitors of all ages with its incredible light.
Museum of the Moon gathers many creative organisations brought together by Luke Jerram and the Norfolk & Norwich Festival : At-Bristol, Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, Brughton Festival, Lakes Alive, Provincial Domain Dommelhof, Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, Without Walls and the festival des Tombées de la Nuit, Rennes.
