The added-value seeker on Winter Wonders is always happy when he unexpectedly encounters a brass band that gets the legs dancing (and thus warms up the body) and elevates the atmosphere. In addition, it makes for original images on social media, instead of the classic photos of tartiflette and mulled wine… The added-value seeker with children, a distinct species, gets a smile from ear to ear when he suddenly stumbles upon an amusing kids activity, allowing him to drink that mulled wine in peace (and share it on Instagram, of course)! Well… at Winter Wonders, we have plenty of activities for the added-value seekers. So don’t wait for the unexpected and discover our programming!
Tuesdays
Every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., world music enlivens Place De Brouckère, with musical performances in different styles : Indian, Balkan, Latin American, African, Arabic… The closing night is organized by Krewe du Belge on January 2.
Wednesdays
Wednesday is a “half day” and thus time to put the spotlight on the kids! The Afterschool from 2:30 to 5 p.m. is an afternoon of read-alouds, mascots, street art and many more surprises. It will take place on stage and in the Enchanted House at Tour Noire. Find out details about performers and activities in our calendar.
Thursdays
Every Thursday there is the aprèski on the ice rink: a DJ set brightens up Place De Brouckère, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a program that reflects the diversity of Brussels in terms of promoters and music styles. You may know a few of them if it is not your first-time dancing in the center of Brussels: DiDi & La Dame, Chez Ginette, MAGMA… Check our agenda to discover who is spinning when! For those who can skate well, we expect your best moves on Thursdays! Beginners can practice in the practice area with a support or can come and enjoy the atmosphere next to the ice rink with a nice hot chocolate (with or without Amaretto in it).
Fridays
Winter Wonders welcomes a guest of honor this year: the 11 Indigenous Nations of Quebec. The village dedicated to them Place de la Bourse will take you for a unique experience in the Shaputuan tent, with a daily program from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
When you are soon strolling around the Christmas market, it is certainly a unique opportunity to go and discover our guest of honor. While you would normally have to take a plane to Canada, you can get a taste here, and if it tastes like more maybe you can consider taking a plane! As well as the chalets where they enthusiastically sell some local products such as maple syrup, beer or moccasins for children, the activities in the tent are worthwhile. These range from dancing and singing, to conferences or the telling of legends. The activities are brought by different nations and vary from day to day and even from week to week. Discover the full program here.
Saturdays
On Saturday Winter Vox is back at Tour Noire from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with recitals of carols, gospel, sacred, pop and contemporary songs. Tour Noire is a lesser-known location of the Christmas Market but definitely worth stopping by and enjoying one or more atmospheric moments. Singing along is allowed! By the way, did you know that Tour Noire is a remnant of the first city wall of Brussels? Something to think about while singing along (hopefully) not too out of tune. Discover the different choirs coming by in our calendar. There are a lot of them, coming from all over the country!
Sundays
On Sunday, Winter Vox is back on the program along with the Magic Sundays, again at Tour Noire. They are synonymous with wonder, with, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., performances by passionate magicians. A fun end to the weekend for the kids and a reason to start dreaming of a career as a magician! The first choir will follow at 4 p.m. so if you stick around or do a tour of the Christmas market in the meantime, you can do some singing too!
This weekly program repeats itself every week with different artists that you can discover in our calendar. So if you bump into any of these activities expectedly or unexpectedly, don’t hesitate to share it with us on social media!
