launch-winter-wonders

From Grand-Place to the big wheel, Les Lampadophores perform an elegant urban ballet that fill the city centre’s streets with light during the Winter Wonders launch show. Like a dream that evaporates in their wake, eight luminous or illuminated puppets with different shapes, sizes and personalities lead visitors into their enchanted world, featuring songs, dances and stories from the big wide world. Three pirouettes, one tune… spectators are mesmerized by their trail of light, ideal for kickstarting five fairytale weeks.

Choirs have been singing about the joys of Christmas in the heart of the capital for four years now! This year, Bozar Singing Brussels and À Cœur Joie are joining their voices to Winter Wonders’ Winter Vox project. Three groups a day, professionals or amateurs, perform favourite Christmas Carols, Gospel, hymns and pop. The programme is rich and varied. Except to see plenty of interaction and inclusiveness!

light-street-artists

Two sparkling light parades wind their way through the city centre’s streets. The light spectaculars are set to dazzle and amaze visitors discovering the wonders of the Christmas market. Street artists will also be busy along the Winter Wonders route. Screwball comedians, some carrying unlikely tools or strange machines for writing temporary words of light on the ground, will create magical moments to delight young and old.

festive-brass-bands

Popular, intergenerational and entertaining, ten brass bands are set to perform at Winter Wonders. Sometimes virtuosos, always joyous, they combine their instruments to perform mood-lifting music celebrating interaction and cooperation for the delight of passers-by.

Our loyal partner Bel RTL knows how to talk to the public ! It’s brass band, with about fifteen musicians all dressed in red, will roam the heart of the event on 27 December.

world-aids-day

The AIDS Prevention platform and its partners are campaigning on World AIDS Day again. Red ribbons and condoms will be handed out at Winter Wonders from 14:00 on Saturday 30 November. It’s important to reiterate that the fight against HIV/AIDS remains ongoing: every day in Belgium, nearly three people are diagnosed HIV positive. Later that day, the association will also host a festive event on Rue Marché aux Poulets from 14:00 to 20:00: Brazilian percussions, juggling, bowling against STIs in a giant condom, photo booths, HIV screening… and an incredible DJ set by Liam Summers at 18:00! The Zero Discrimination project is also being launched. The aim is to collect as many photos of hands forming a zero as possible because everyone with HIV is entitled to live without discrimination. Head to www.zero-discrimination.be or Facebook and Instagram to post a photo (anonymous or not). A few clicks are all it takes to support people living with HIV!

Santa will stop by at 16:00! Guaranteed treats for young and old!
• On Sunday 8, Christmas Designers Market: a special seasonal edition of the capital’s biggest designer market! Over fifty exhibitors will present their creations: jewellery, lamps, stationery, decorative items, clothes, accessories, quirky objects... The best place to find great gifts!

zumba-flash-mob

Every year on the Saturday before Christmas, members of the Zumba Gold group from the City of Brussels’s Seniors Department, accompanied by their instructor Jacques Husdens, organize a flash mob to introduce the public to the workout in an exceptional setting and light-hearted atmospheric. Zumba Gold is a fun and festive fitness programme that’s suitable for everyone, especially seniors. This year, an hour-long giant Christmas Zumba class will be held at Carrefour de l’Europe, encouraging people of all ages to join the dancers in this fantastic antidote to boredom and loneliness. Get fit while having fun!
