You know all there is to know about Winter Wonders already… or so you think! An original programme means that there’s plenty of new things to discover again this year. Break with your usual habits and let yourself be tempted by these lesser-known activities, making your experience at Winter Wonders all the more special.
A village dedicated to the 11 Indigenous Nations of Quebec
The City of Brussels is giving a warm welcome to the 11 Indigenous Nations of Quebec – the guests of honour at Winter Wonders! The village dedicated to them on Place de la Bourse will take you on a unique experience with an enhanced programme on Fridays. Click here for more info on the guest of honour.
Afterski Thursdays on the ice rink
A DJ set will keep skating fans entertained with a programme that reflects Brussels’ diversity in terms of promoters and musical styles. The aim is to shine the spotlight on more notable or emerging collectives, or those who play music which is well known to the general public. The ice rink is also expanding to include 3 new curling rinks and a terrace. The area dedicated to toddlers has also been enlarged.
Éloge de l’air (In praise of air) at the Mont des Arts
To be kinetic without a motor, sonorous without a sound system, interactive without technical overkill – this was the challenge taken up in creating the Éloge de l’air installation at the Mont des Arts. This innovative co-production between Quebec and Europe is based on the principle of inventing an installation dedicated to intercontinental travel and collaboration. It symbolises travel and embodies the idea of movement. Éloge de l’air is set on 9 flagpoles, each embellished with a transparent flag which reflects gold, and invites the audience to sway to activate the lights on either side of the swings.
Winter Wonders puts the spotlight on arts and crafts
The City of Brussels is keen to ensure that craftspeople from Brussels and beyond benefit from the Winter Wonders commercial showcase. This year, no less than 30 chalets will display the label with the distinctive sign of craftsperson-producers. They meet certain quality criteria to obtain this Winter Wonders label (such as the origin of the products).
