The “Cassandra Koor” is the amateur and engaged choir of La Monnaie, conducted by Laurence Renson.

As a true bridge between the values embodied on the stage of La Monnaie and contemporary challenges, the choir stands out for its commitment to human rights and environmental preservation. Its influence has naturally become a vehicle for social cohesion. Today, it counts 80 choristers, aged 20 to 75, from very diverse backgrounds.

Founded in September 2022 by the Publics team of La Monnaie, alongside the creation of Bernard Foccroulle’s opera Cassandra, the choir initially raised its voice for the climate cause, participating in numerous climate marches, demonstrations, and conferences related to this theme. The choir’s performances, driven by its authentic commitment and contagious energy, have repeatedly moved varied audiences.

Building on this first experience, the Cassandra Koor continues with determination in its commitment, particularly in favor of human rights equality. In this regard, the choristers proudly champion the values promoted by several opera productions in the current and upcoming season, including The Time of Our Singing.
